I've been struggling a little with motivation lately. I will speak more about that in my next post. A way in which I deal with a lack of motivation is to search out inspiration.
The number one way in which I find inspiration is through music. There is something about music that I love that sets me into action. I find it easier to do daily domestic tasks, focus on work, become more creative in my writing and just get myself in gear!
An example of this comes from my morning. I woke up feel overwhelmed by my "to do" list. I was not sure that I could get it all done and started to waver in my motivation. Instead of throwing my hands up I found a playlist on YouTube and listened to Soul Music.
As Michael Jackson sang "Rock With You" I began my tasks. Marvin Gay, Al Green, Diana Ross and many others joined me as I did my chores. The mundane started to feel more fun and lively.
It is late in the year but I am just now taking down my Christmas Tree. There was something special about listening to such positive music while taking it down. Usually, this process is hard on me. I feel sad saying goodbye to my favorite time of the year. This year it feels less sad and more joyful. I am not saying goodbye forever. It is more of a see you next time!
I find that music really helps me to get a better more positive perspective. Does music help you to find your motivation? Does it inspire you? If so please explain! I would love to hear your stories.
In my writing music has always helped me. It gets my creative juices flowing and I write my best when I am listening to music. There are certain artists who inspire me more than others. I really seem to get a spark when I listen to Tori Amos, Taylor Swift or Maneskin.
There is a lot of inspiration garnered from watching Grey's Anatomy. It seems like every time I watch that show my mind is sharp. I am so alert and my brain is tuned into my creativity. I have written an entire book with nothing but Grey's in the background. The funny thing is that not one part of my book has a thing to do with medicine.
What inspires you?
There are more things that inspire me. But, that feels like a post for another time. Until next time! ;)
